BULGARIA, Boyan Dimitrov & Yordan Yochev, MONITOR daily
Yordan Yochev: I am 23 year-old, a journalism graduate of the Sofia University. Since four years I have been a crime reporter with Monitor daily, where I cover all problems, ensuing from the traffic and distribution of synthetic drugs. Drugs are an interesting topic for me, because the people who control them most often play an important role in the processes of the domestic politics in the country. Boyan Dimitrov: I am 22-year old and I am last year student in the Journalism and Mass Media specialty with the University of National and World Economy. Since four years I have been crime and court reporter of Monitor daily. My work there is connected mainly with developments about distribution of drugs at any level. I think that the topic as a whole is urgent for our society, as hundreds of young people who have come in contact with drugs die every year in this country. If we should take into consideration the definition of journalism that it is a socially significant cause, then we should make as many similar materials as possible and show the society the harm from drugs.
BULGARIA, Iskra Tsenkova, TEMA magazine
I have graduated journalism in St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia. I have worked for Trud and Novinar dailies, and since six years I have been an editor of Tema magazine. A great part of my publications are in the social sphere. Currently, I am particularly interested in the topic of addictions and the way many people devoid themselves from their freedom and turn into nightmare not only their lives, but also the lives of their relatives.
BULGARIA, Maria Spirova, GLAMOUR magazine
I took up journalism at the age of 18 and I cannot stop writing since then. Now I am 26 years old, however the same things as in the beginning motivate me – the need to write and to get up from the computer with the confidence that whoever reads an article of mine would not consider these 10 minutes lost time. The curiosity about the world is that incurable decease with which I would like to infect all readers. After graduating my master’s degree studies in criminology in Oxford, my focus cleared out: I have become interested in those aspects of life, of which we are either afraid too much, or not afraid sufficiently. Because of that, when I get a chance to crack a prejudice or two with writing, I do not miss it.
